Post surgery knitting

On a knit note…I was able to knit last night fine. Apparently the knitting gods saw fit that I should be able to continue through my pain and recovery. It’s really only things where I need to lift my arms quite a bit that hurt…i.e. cleaning, cooking and putting away dishes in the top cabinet. Woe is me :)

I started a shrug with some yarn that I purchased from ebay–cashmere luxury chunky (45% merino wool, 49% microfiber, 6% cashmere) in a great shade of red. I am knitting it on 2 circulars, size 15. I really wanted to sleeve to be more flared, but I think I may like this slight flare too. I can play with that more later.

surgery

I had my shoulder surgery on Wednesday and already went to physical therapy today. Overall everything has gone well so far. Turns out I had bone spurs and lots of inflammation. Guess I did REALLY need it unless I decided to become so kind of masochist.

I spent the rest of Wednesday sleeping off the anesthetic. I didn’t sleep well that night (big surprise!). Thursday I was in a lot of pain…more from a GRANDE headache than from the surgery. I finally got it knocked out by bed time and actually slept pretty well.

Today, therapy…UGH. Definitely some pain, but I can already see an improvement in mobility since Wednesday. No pain pills today, so it can’t be too bad, right? If it keeps improving each day as much as it did from Thursday to Friday I should be pain free sooner than I imagined!
