Stiffy

It is not necessary to adjust your monitor. The image shown is rated PG13. Now that I have your attention…

How could a post with this title miss? I mean come on…Stiffy? “Product?” you say. Yes. A product. For real. Not from Hustler.

This could quite possibly be the solution to my hat problem. I received lots of good ideas about what I could do with the hat. All of them, frankly easier and probably more sensible than using Stiffy. However, I am still determined to make this hat work.

There were other products with less “scandalous” names but I did choose this one for a reason (not just because it’s called Stiffy).

a) It’s water soluble. If this doesn’t work, I can just wash the hat and move on to plan b.

b) a.1) Related to a: I am a big clutz and likely to spill things. Water soluble is not just convenient in my case, but a necessity.

Stiffy process:

1. Prep area.

2. Place hat in bowl.

3. Pour on Stiffy and work into fabric.

4. Shape and leave to dry.

5. Pour a glass of wine and wait for hat to dry. Repeat as necessary.

Another scarf

After the “bad hat” incident yesterday, I did get some more :knitting: done. You know, those Christmas presents don’t just knit themselves. So began another scarf. This is garter stitch on #19 needles in Lion Brand Fun Fur Stripes, color South Beach.

Green grass and a white ball

I almost forgot to comment on my first round of golf since the surgery. Ok, it wasn’t really a round, more like 7 holes AND it wasn’t pretty, but at least it was pain free!!! Didn’t score too badly either, which was a nice suprise.

Bad Hat

So yesterday I am looking all over the place for a good bucket hat pattern. Hilde did find a good one (and free), but it wasn’t quite what I wanted. So, I thought, “no problem, I’ll just design one myself”. Never having made a hat, I guess, should have worried me a little. Nope! I plunged right in; that’s just how I operate.

Here is my version of the bucket hat:rofl::rofl:
Not quite what it should be, eh? The part below the mango color should be a wide brim that would either stick out 90 degrees from the hat part or at least 45.

I HATE to frog. I would really rather try to salvage this if possible. By the way, doesn’t it remind you a bit of Dumb Donald from the Fat Albert cartoon? My thoughts so far:

1. Isn’t there something like spray starch except that you could dunk the whole piece in it? Maybe that would make it stiff enough to fashion a brim that would stay in place. (hmmm, maybe some hat viagra?)

2. Wire? Thin? Threaded around the edge and under the stripe where the brim should begin.

3. Ditch the hat effort and call it a bowl cozy.

4. Oh, and ILOVE to felt, but this is cotton
