Two Socks on One Circular
After knitting socks on DPN’s I wanted to try doing it on circulars. Since I have already knitted using two circulars for small diameter knitting, I thought I’d try the magic loop instead. I’ll show you what it looks like so far and give my first impressions.
CONS:
PROS:
The concept is pretty much the same as knitting on two circulars with a little more shuffling involved. Also, the needle I have is 42″…I think (I know it wasn’t in the 50’s which I looked for) but I would definitely recommend the longer needle. The 42″ is the minimum I would use, due to the way it sits while you are working on it. An extra 8-12 inches to work with would be helpful.

I use a 32″ circular, but I only do one sock at a time. This is a lot faster for me than using DPN’s - I can knit up a pair of socks in two weeks. Plus it also helps me with the laddering issues I have with DPN’s.
[...] Ok, on to knitting. I finished Stacie’s scarf and did a wet block. I love the way it looks! The thick/thin yarn really adds a lot of interest. I also worked on Jim’s socks…the most boring socks ever that I haven’ t picked up for months. I figured with the the Knit Olympics coming up it would be pretty stupid to start something new and exciting that I won’t get to touch again for 16 days. So instead, I decided to put myself into a black sock induced coma. Despite how SLOW they seem, I am making progress. Knitting a project for Jim is the only time I wish he was a more average size man! I promised black “work” socks which for him come just below the knee of his 6′ 4″ long legged body. He just doesn’t like calf socks. BAH. Bad for a sock knitter. [...]
