felting…it’s what’s for dinner
Um, remember how I thought I might be getting sick? I was (am??). I had an exciting weekend of lying on the couch, soup, hot tea and knitting. I am just now feeling like a “real” person again. You are now returned to the regularly scheduled blogging already in progress.
I lived dangerously (again) and did not test felt the two yarns I wanted to use for Jim’s Fiber Trends clogs…I knew they would felt well individually but not sure if they would shrink at the same rate. I don’t know why I insist on taking that kind of risk! Anyway, it did work out although I think the sole shrunk slightly more than the body. Jim loves them though and they fit so that is all that matters. The sole and cuff are Araucania Nature wool (from my secret pal) and the body is cascade 220 col 840. I was so jealous that he two pair of clogs now (so what the first pair doesn’t fit! He still HAS two) that I had to make some for me.
Too bad all the feltable yarn (ok, not all the feltable yarn…I actually have quite a bit…just all the wool that is appropriate for clogs) left in my stash is grossly mismatched. I didn’t let that stop me though! Need clogs now!
We are having way below normal temperatures here and my feet are extra cold. Plus I was sick all day Sunday on the couch so clogs for me seemed like the perfect project. Voila…wild and crazy cozy clogs. They’re actually not as hideous as I feared before felting. While I wait for more Knit Picks WOTA (now that my little sister has seen these, she wants some too) I am back to another felted project…a Noro Kureyon bag. ![]()
I finished my skirt designsand shipped it off today. I’m very happy with the way it turned out…so happy, I wish I got to keep the skirt! I really like it. Whenever they actually post the pattern I’ll provide the link. Guess I’m still a little worried about jinxing myself.
A lot of you have already seen this sweater, but I had to post it again since I finally got Jim to model it for me. He has actually been wearing it a lot since I finished it, but at night just to keep warm. He had me make the sleeves extra long so he can fold them up or put them down over his hands.
Since he knew I was going to be showing this off to “the girls” (KHers) and “blog people” he wanted to wait until he was all dressed and wearing it out (he wore it to work Saturday). What can I say…he is a reluctant model!
