Corn porn?

Finally, something about which to blog (we’re using the queen’s English today). I’ve really been in kind of a knit/blog/overall funk. Plus I am busily chipping away at my new, self-imposed amount of work.  At least it’s all yarn related!
The girls over at KH have been talking about my corn. No, not my feet, silly. My a-Maizing yarn made of 100% corn from South West Trading company. I finally decided I couldn’t possibly keep my hands off it any longer. Why I thought it might make a good sock is beyond me. Ok, mainly that fact that it is soft AND machine washable/dry made me think “socks!” It’s not very stretchy though I’m thinking not so good for socks. Good for lots of other stuff though; especially baby stuff with this particular color, Aidan. It would also make really good BABY socks or baby booties, seeing as how babies really don’t care quite as much about hand knit sock fit as we adults.

Another interesting thing about this little adventure was using the stretchy circulars again. I first tried these by knitting on to them from a sock that was already in process. This time though, I was starting fresh. Figure 8 cast on, toe up socks…my favorite method. What surprised me about the circulars was that I could cast on! I just used the stretchies as you would using the magic loop method (pull right needle to knit while right needle stitches stay on the circ). It wasn’t the easiest thing in the world with this yarn (no stretch), but I think it would work fine with wool. How cool would that be if the whole sock start to finish could be on this little circular?!? I’ll have to experiment more with “real” sock yarn.

Hope it’s sooner than two weeks before I see y’all again. How did I ever keep up with posting a few times a week?

We interrupt this blog (again)…

We interrupt your regularly scheduled knit blog to bring you this breaking news story! Today, at 9:38 a.m., the tight security surrounding the Diva compound was broken by a notorious intruder, Mr. Hugeo Turtle. One of the Diva’s security guards, Mr. Loki, was first on the scene. After the alarm was raised, Mr. Loki was joined at the scene by Mr. Bodhi. Both Mr. Loki and Mr. Bodhi are fiercely devoted to the Diva and feel their purpose in life is to protect her from harm. The Diva was, of course, startled and came to witness the strength of her squad with only her felted clogs to protect her feet from a possible snap from Mr. Turtle. With the full force of their scary voices, raised hackles and persistence the intruder was chased away. He could not be taken into custody at this time as an invisible barrier around the Diva compound prevent further chase of the suspect. You will see a picture of the suspect at the left of your screen. Consider him armed and harmless.

Mr. Bodhi and Mr. Loki are reported to be in stable yet exhausted condition. They will recover on the cool floor of the Diva mansion until they have regained their energy or until one of the feline residents revives them from their stupor. This breaking story was brought by your reporter on scene, Sunny Weather. We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.

**The turtle was never in danger. The invisible fence prevents the boys from getting within 3 feet of the neighbors fence. Somehow the turtle was smart enough to realize this.

Can a post be too lame to post?

Well, even if it is, I’m doing it anyway. It’s two in the morning, I’m not sleeping and…isn’t that enough of an excuse?  As soon as I saw this quiz on Dorothy’s blog I knew I must do it (oh and in case you are wondering, no, I still have not finished the tank). My results:

ButtercupWhich Princess Bride Character are You?
this quiz was made by mysti

If you’ve never heard of The Princess Bride…I know there are a few people that haven’t…it’s only the best movie ever. But that’s ok. Go on living your life never seeing the movie that has it all. Action, adventure, romance, sword fights, scary creatures and Cary Elwes. Seriously, what more could you want from a movie? You must rent it. Go now. Report back. I’ll be totally shocked if you don’t think it’s one of the coolest movies you’ve ever seen.

What can I say? I was inspired.

A little kitchy and on the edge for me, but moderately funny none the less.

Real knitting content soon. My summer tank has been “almost finished” for days…I’m shooting to finish it today.
