Blame game
The Harlot made me do it. After I read her post about the Mystery Stole, I immediately signed up (I got sucked into the FPS in a similar fashion by La and Debi…apparently the mere suggestion of knitting something by bloggers I admire causes me to cast on despite being in the middle of working on a submission). I too had read about MS3 on many blogs and had put it out of my mind successfully several times. For whatever reason once I read her post and saw the picture…well, resistance was futile (in case you have been under a rock and don’t know about MS3, sign ups are unfortunately, closed…the designer will be offering the pattern for sale in the very near future). At least I had both the yarn and beads in stash. In my typical fashion with something like this (ie fit is not critical), I just jumped right in. We don’t need no stinking swatches!
Yarn: Kaalund Yarns, “Expressions” Color: “Wombat” Needles: Addi Turbo US2 (a little smaller than called for but I am a loose knitter, remember?)
On a totally different subject…it took me some time, but I figured out how to get the running posts out of my normal feel and off of the front page so you won’t be bothered by them! If for some bizarre reason you have an interest in checking out my running stuff the feed is: http://www.divaknitting.com/blog/?feed=rss2&cat=12

Socks

I’ m feeling uncreative and tired (thus the title). My youngest sister has been here this week and my other sister just arrived yesterday. Big burger reunion (Schnellenberger) going on this weekend! So although there has been little knitting, there has been some.
Erica confiscated the monkey socks. That’s the only problem with all the sisters having the same shoe size! Plus, she is the baby so she pretty much gets what she wants :) Specs: Addi Turbo US 1 (2.5mm) 60″ needles, knit two at once toe up using the magic loop method, magic cast on and double wrap short row heels. The monkey lace pattern is great. Not complicated at all but enough going on to keep it interesting.
Since Erica just found out one of her friends is pregnant, I took the opportunity to whip up a pair of newborn socks for her too. They’re
something any sock knitter could figure out, but I went ahead and took the time to write it down. It took a little research to find out what size little newborn feet are. There were quite a few answers ranging from 3 inches to 5+. I went with a total length of 4″. I think they will work fine for newborns but I can’t know for sure. (If you have a newborn baby…could you measure a foot and let me know? I doubt there are many moms of newborns reading though…when would you possibly have the time???)
Lastly, I found this a few days ago and thought it was fun…but you know I’m a big ol geek, right?
