Parade
I’m always amazed that when I get a big project like Autumn Rose finished that other projects seem to fly off the needles. In a flurry of knitting activity this week here is what has been produced. There is nothing terribly exciting but it feels good to get things finished nonetheless. Oh and I don’t think any Kemps read my blog (there is a rumor that two young and beautiful Kemps do but I never hear from them)…but if you do, go away now please. You can come back on the 25th. Goodies behind the jump. Still haven’t gotten your contest entry in, have you? Still plenty of time!
Fingerless Mitts for Jim, because his hands were getting cold while reading in bed. Half a skein of Araucania Nature Wool on size 8 needles. He worships them.
Two Simple Stocking Hats in high school team color for my brother in law and his son. Half a skein for each hat Patons Classic Merino Wool, size 8 needles.
One Simple Stocking Hat in Serendipity 103, one skein on size 8 needles.
One Lauramy Scarf for my niece Lauren. Three skeins SWTC Gianna in Sunkissed Coral on size 11 needles.
One Lauramy Scarf for my niece Amy. One and a half skeins Reynolds Andean Alpaca Regal in color 70 (hopefully close to Virginia Tech colors) on size 11 needles.
And a partridge in a pear tree.
I also got a good start last night on Ice Queen after finding some lovely Swarovski crystals on clearance at Michael’s. I don’t know if every Michael’s is doing this but apparently they are having a big bead blowout prior to a “reset”. Go check it out if you have time. Fortunately the holiday crowds there aren’t quite as crazy as a mall. I’m using some GGH Soft Kid from my stash in off white. Since the yardage is quite a bit different from the called for Kid Silk Haze I had to do a little swatch. And I do mean little and very half-assed. Maybe even quarter-assed :P (guess I just lost my G rating for a second…I hope my mother in law doesn’t suddenly decide to start reading) Anyway, I determined that a cast on of 130 instead of 156 should get me close to the measurements I need. Fortunately gauge isn’t super critical here so as long as it fits over my head I should be ok.
Now I just need to figure out what project I’m taking to Arizona on Saturday. I’m considering Deb’s forest path stole but the lighting where I knit there isn’t the greatest! Plus, and I know this will be a shocker…I’m not sure I have the right needle for it. Deb’s gauge seems to be quite a bit tighter on that mine was. I might need to figure out something else…like the two pair of socks that have languished unloved for the past month or so?

I’m very impressed with the sheer volume of knitting you’re putting out. And I think it’s so very cool that I saw this on the “what your friends are doing” bit on Ravelry, and now I see it here.
I feel like such an insider.
Happy Holidays!
